EVOC INTERNATIONAL TRAINER REGISTRY
American Integrated Training Systems, Inc. (AITS) has established an International Registry for those individuals who attend the AITS-conducted EVOC Train the Trainer (T3) course.
The objective of the EVOC International Trainer Registry is to establish the AITS Course, which is based on the US Department of Transportation National Standard Curriculum as a universally accepted curriculum in all states for qualifying trainers to conduct the National Standard Curriculum.
AITS personnel developed the EVOC and Train the Trainer courses for DOT in 1994 and have been conducting the Train the Trainer courses ever since. The T3 course is designed to qualify trainers to conduct the operator-level Emergency Vehicle Operators Course for EMS, Fire, and Law Enforcement organizations, as well as specialized military units. The course has four phases.
Phase I covers Adult Learning, Developing Instructional Materials, How to Plan and Conduct EVOC, How to Develop Standard Operating Procedures and Presentation Techniques.
Phase II covers the 10 lessons, practical exercises and the appendices in the US Department of Transportation Emergency Vehicle Operator Courses
Phase III provides an opportunity for each participant to conduct a fifteen minute practice presentation using one of the lessons in the National Standard Curriculum. Each participant is evaluated and offered feedback evaluated by their peers (other participants) and an AITS T3 Trainer.
Phase IV consists of four hours on the cone driving course and commentary driving. Ambulances, Fire Apparatus and Law Enforcement
Vehicles may be used for the driving portion to meet the participant operational requirements. Each participant learns the techniques of conducting vehicle operator training and acts as a student, coach and trainer. Participants return to their organization and must develop their individual vehicle operating skills so that they can demonstrate the cone course exercises using their organizational vehicles.
Each participant receives a paper copy of the US DOT Instructor Guide and using the provided CD-ROM learns how to edit the Instructor Guide to better apply to their organization. Most important is that they review the organizational Standard Operating Procedures and insure that the procedures are supported by the EVOC training program.
Each participant receives a Training Resources removable USB drive that contains the following:
1. US Department of Transportation (DOT) Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC): (Ambulance) National Standard Curriculum, Instructor Guide, and Participant Manual. These materials are designed to be edited by each organization to make them more appropriate for local use. Once edited the document may be reproduced to support local training.
2. US Department of Transportation (DOT) Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC): (Ambulance) National Standard Curriculum, Instructor Guide, Participant Manual and PowerPoint presentation. These electronic materials are designed to be edited by each organization to make them more appropriate for local use. Once edited they may be reproduced to support local training.
3. US General Services Administration (GSA) Federal Specification for the Star-of-Life Ambulance, KKK-A-1822F. An ambulance must meet this specification to display the Star-of-Life symbol on the ambulance.
4. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) FA197 Document: Developing Effective Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Fire and EMS Departments. This is a comprehensive guide to assist organizations with preparing and revising SOPs.
5. US Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Guide for Interfacility Patient Transfer. This document provides general guidance, references and ideas for optimal delivery of care. The ultimate goal is to match patient need with appropriate knowledge, skills, equipment, and an infrastructure to enable safe, effective, and efficient Interfacility transport.
6. US Department of Transportation Guidelines for EMS Educators. A solid reference for developing and conducting effective training.
7. Certificate of Completion form. This certificate may be used only by those trainers/instructors who have completed the AITS, Inc. EVOC Train the Trainer Course.
AITS awarded the first EVOC Trainer Registry numbers to Train the Trainer Course 2008-03 participants at the course conducted in Dover, Ohio October 29-31, 2008. AITS will be awarding the EVOC International Trainer Registry numbers to participants who have attended a T3 course since and including 2007. Although there are some variations in the expiration date, the normal effective period will be two year from the date of attending a Train the Trainer Course or Refresher Course. Train the Trainer course graduates in 2007 were assigned an expiration date of May 31,2010. To renew their registry numbers, trainers will need to complete refresher training conducted by AITS.

AITS POLICIES AND PROCEDURES GUIDE
These Policies and Procedures describe the four American Integrated Training Systems, Inc. International Registry Programs.
The EVOC International Trainer Registry (EVOCITR) was established in 2007. The purpose of the EVOCITR is to certify and register those individuals who attended the EVOC Train the Trainer (T3) Course conducted by AITS as EVOC Trainers.
The AITS T3 course uses the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA) National Standard Curriculum for ambulances and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 1002 for fire apparatus as the primary references.
The International Registries are:
1. Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) International Trainer Registry (EVOCITR)
(AITS-certified EVOC Instructors)
2. EVOC International Registry (EVOCIR)
(T3 Registered Instructors' Operator-Level Participants registered by AITS, Inc.)
3. Medical Van Operator Course International Trainer Registry (MVOCITR)
4. MVOC International Registry (MVOCIR)
The EVOC International Trainer Registry is a separate division within AITS, Inc.
