Safety Note:  The International Association of Fire Chiefs and the International Association of Fire Fighters published the Four Key Areas during Safety Week.
The first area addressed was Safety - Emergency Driving . The three key areas were:
1. Never drive above the posted speed limits going to or returning from an incident. 2. Wear a Seat Belt and 3. Stop and Clear all traffic controlled intersections.

EVOC T3 Train-the-Trainer Course
Personnel completing this course will be qualified to conduct operator level training for emergency vehicles. Each person must become proficient in operating and instructing on the type vehicles in their organization . The course uses the US Department of Transportation National Standard Curriculum for Ambulances and has been supplemented to meet the requirements of National Fire Protection Agency, NFPA 1002, Standard on Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications. The course is also appropriate for Law Enforcement Personnel.

T3 Refresher Course
The Refresher course is a one day course for those personnel who attended an AITS Train the Trainer course before 2007 and did not get enrolled in the AITS National Trainer Registry and those who have an EVOCNTR  number that is expiring.  Personnel will receive the latest version of the AITS Training Resources CD-ROM and other materials that have changed since they attended the course.  The morning is devoted to classroom activities and the afternoon is spent on the driving range.  All participants operate both an ambulance and fire apparatus.  Personnel completing the course will be registered or have their certification renewed in the AITS EVOC National Trainer Registry.  The cost for this one day course is $225.00.  For more information contact Billy Rutherford at 703.440.0914 or brutherf@aitstraining.com.

Emergency Vehicle Operator Course EVOC National Trainer Registry

American Integrated Training Systems, Inc. (AITS) has established a National Registry for those individuals who attend the AITS conducted EVOC Train the Trainer (T3) courses.

The objective of the EVOC National Trainer Registry is to establish the AITS Course that is based on the US Department of Transportation National Standard Curriculum as an accepted curriculum in all states for qualifying trainers to conduct the National Standard Curriculum.

AITS, Inc Train-the-Trainer (T3) Course Resource Materials CD-ROM

American Integrated Training Systems, Inc. has developed the Training Resources Material CD-ROM that is used to support the conduct of Emergency Vehicle Operator training that contains the following. This CD-ROM is copyrighted by AITS, Inc.

1. US Department of Transportation (DOT) Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC): (Ambulance) National Standard Curriculum, Instructor Guide, Participant Manual and paper Overhead Transparencies in Microsoft Word.  These documents are designed to be edited by each organization to make them more appropriate for local use.  Once edited the document may be reproduced to support local training.

2. Enhanced Power Point Visuals with and without Instructor Tips to support the Instructor Guide, Power Point visuals: Decontamination of an Ambulance.  This presentation was developed by Orlando Alcordo, Director of Training, PMT Ambulance Company, Mesa, Arizona.

3. US General Services Administration (GSA) Federal Specification for the Star-of-Life Ambulance, KKK-A-1822F.  An ambulance must meet this specification to display the Star-of-Life symbol on the ambulance.

4. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) FA197 Document: Developing Effective Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Fire and EMS Departments.  This is a comprehensive guide to assist organizations with preparing and revising SOPs.

 5. US Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Guide for Interfacility Patient Transfer.  This document provides general guidance, references and ideas for optimal delivery of care.   The ultimate goal is to match patient need with appropriate knowledge, skills, equipment, and an infrastructure to enable safe, effective, and efficient Interfacility transport.

6. US Department of Transportation Guidelines for EMS Educators.   A solid reference for developing and conducting effective training.

7. USFA Voice Communications Guide for the Fire Service- 2008.

8. USFA Emerging Health and Safety Issues in the Volunteer Fire Service.

9. USFA Health and Wellness guide for the Volunteer Fire and Emergency Services.

10. Certificate of Completion form. This certificate may be used only by those trainers/instructors who have completed the AITS, Inc.  EVOC Train the Trainer Course.
