The Leadership Series
First Line Supervision Course For Emergency Responders

AITS, Inc. has been developing training materials and conducting training courses for emergency responders for over 12 years. AITS conducts the US Department of Transportation Emergency Vehicle Operator Train-the-Trainer (T3) Course throughout the United States. We visit many organizations ranging from small volunteer to large municipalities to discuss how to improve operational performance. The consensus is that the first line supervisors can be one of the most positive influences for reducing crashes, improving performance, improving morale and reducing personnel turnover - but they must be trained. This First Line Supervision course has been designed to meet the training needs and challenges that supervisors face in Fire and EMS organizations.

About the Course
Developing competent supervisors requires more than having them watch what others are doing. The 3-day First Line Supervision program covers the supervisory skills and techniques needed to develop action plans for improving individual and organizational effectiveness.

Each participant will leave this program with a roadmap for becoming a more effective leader in their organization. The program also emphasizes the importance of having a solid Standard Operating Procedures Manual that is available to all employees.

Program Components:
The Effective Supervisor - The role of the supervisor and the competencies necessary to transition from an individual contributor into a leadership role.
Organizational Functions - How the organization works and how to work within an organization to get things done.
Elements of Supervision - The backbone of supervision: Communication, Delegation, Recognition, Motivation, Trust, Ethics, and Personal Character.
Performance Management - Best Practices for hiring, establishing accountability, motivating, delegating, coaching and conducting performance reviews in union and non-union environments.
